What kind of fish do you catch at Elfin Cove ?
Typically we catch King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Chum Salmon, Pacific Halibut, Lingcod and Rockfish

That depends upon the species of fish you're after. The following charts should give you a good idea of the best times for each species.

Where is Elfin Cove, Alaska ?
Elfin Cove is located in Southeastern Alaska, near the city of Juneau and Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve.

Do I need to bring my own fishing equipment ?
No, we provide all the rods reels bait lures and other related equipment. If you choose too you bring your own gear it is at your own risk and will limit space for you returning catch.

What are the water conditions like?
Elfin cove is located in very protected waters. We have access to inland waters and ocean waters. We do not typically receive large swells. We also use large heavy catamaran style boats these are very stable in the water. If you still feel uncomfortable about getting sea sick, a new sea sick medication used by the U.S. Coast Guard is now available we have seen it work well with many customers. Call your Doctor to check if you can use this drug it is called scopolamine Hydrobromide 0.4 also Known as scopace. This not a patch it is a pill one a day and no tiredness it hasn't failed yet. You can goggle scopace for info.

What kind of clothing do I need to pack ?

We provide raingear for you. Otherwise, plan on the temperature ranging between 45 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit. The months between May and September being more towards 65 degrees with the occassional 70 degree day. We will be doing your laundry as needed so please only bring one change of clothes - we want you to take fish back home not dirty clothes. 


How much clothing should I pack ?
Please pack lightly. One change of clothes is usually enough and we will do your laundry as necessary. Your packing light and our top notch guest service make it easier on you to return home with fish rather than a checked bag of dirty clothes.

Do you have laundry facilities ?
Yes, our staff will be happy to wash and dry your clothes for you and deliver them to your room.

Do you have hair dryers and irons available for lodge guests ?
Yes.

I have specific dietary restrictions. Can your kitchen staff accommodate my diet ?
Please call our toll free number or email us to let us know your specific requirements. We'll do our best to provide the required diet, if within reason.

I'm coming to Elfin cove with a guest that doesn't fish, do they pay the same rate as those who go fishing ?
We have discounted rates for non-fishing guests. Please let us know when you make your reservations.

What is the Guest-to-Guide ratio ?
We provide 1 professional guide for every 4 guests. This is a common ratio for the industry.

How much fish can I expect to take home ?
It depends on how many days you'll be fishing with us:.
7 days : 3 boxes
4 days : 2 boxes
2 days : 1 box
Each box weighs about 50lbs, so you can see why we recommend packing lightly.

How do I make a reservation with Eagle Charters ?
Call us Toll Free at 888-828-1970 and we’ll be happy to help plan your trip. At the time of your booking we require a $1,000 non-refundable deposit per person. The balance is payable when you arrive at the Eagle Charters Lodge in Elfin Cove. For your convenience we accept MasterCard, Visa, Check and Cash.

What if I need to cancel my trip after paying the deposit ?
Since space in our lodge is at a premium and the fishing season is limited we may have turned away other guests due to your reservation. As such, if you cannot meet your scheduled date for any reason we will try to reschedule your trip during the current season if at all possible - if you absolutely cannot make any of the remaining dates during the current season we will move your trip to next years season. Also your trip can be transferred to family, friends, or anyone else you desire … just let us know.

I want to stay overnight in Juneau, do you have any recommendations as to where I should stay ?
We recommend the Juneau Airport Travelodge Hotel ( 800-578-7878) and the Frontier Suites Airport Hotel ( 800-544-2250 ). Both of these fine establishments provide walk-in freezer storage for your boxed fish. Also, if you tell the reservation clerk you're on an Eagle Charter's vacation, you'll receive a discount on your room.

Which Airlines flies into Juneau ?
Only one airline that flies into Juneau is Alaska Airlines. You can reach Alaska Airlines at 800-252-7522 or on the web at Alaska Airlines.

How much should I tip the Guides and Staff ?
This depends on you, but generally speaking the gratuity for a 3 day trip is usually around $200, a 5 day trip is around $300, and a 7 day trip is usually around $400. It depends on you, how well your trip was, how well the guides and staff were to you, etc. All gratuities are divided among the entire group of guides and staff.
